Celebration

Being sick makes me thankful for the times I'm healthy. Don't get me wrong... being sick is brutal! It's been going around - flu, fevers, coughing, achey body. Yech. But today I'd like to consider something positive out of the mess that I feel like I've lived in for the past 2 weeks and recognize that Jesus uses these moments in my life to remind me that it's not all about me.

Over the weekend while at the grocery store (I'm still not feeling well mind you), I met 3 people that wanted to share/pray/have lunch/hear about Young Life. I LOVE the opportunity to talk about Young Life and also to hear about how God is using others to inspire, love, and bring life to those in the area. But what's interesteing to me is that God sets these appointments, not I, and therefore he receives the credit.

A man sets plans in his heart, but the Lord determines his steps. -A Proverb

Being sick this week has been a great reminder that we venture and set many plans, but we are only farmers. God makes things grow. I'm excited Bill, John and Jennifer for what the future holds in our lives and I'm excited to spend time with you all soon.

It's a whirlwind of things happening

Hey everyone,

I hope you're doing well. We're dusting off the old blog, and getting it going again. I'd like to welcome Desrae Richter to the Young Life Team!!! How exciting that Desrae accepted a part-time position as area administrator, sending mail, making calls, getting-er-dun. I understand the principles of organization, but I'm pretty sure Desrae is going to make a huge splash for Young Life in our area and God is going to use her amazing talents in leadership, organization and passion to have a life-long impact on our High School friends.

Just so you know:
Club // Cornerstone Coffee // 2nd and 4th Wednesdays
Campaigners // Ryan & Courtney DeBok's // 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
Special Events // 5th Wednesdays.
(See the calendar to the right for the specs on this semester's calendar)

Also, events happening this semester for ADULTS too! Superheroes are flying in this May to hang out with YOU at Fire Lake, May 7. An invitation is flying your way soon!!

Have a great afternoon and enjoy that decaf (while some of us are still drinkin' full strength).

"Remember every road that God led you on for those forty years in the wilderness, pushing you to your limits, testing you so that he would know what you were made of, whether you would keep his commandments or not. He put you through hard times. He made you go hungry. Then he fed you with manna, something neither you nor your parents knew anything about, so you would learn that men and women don't live by bread only; we live by every word that comes from God's mouth. Your clothes didn't wear out and your feet didn't blister those forty years. You learned deep in your heart that God disciplines you in the same ways a father disciplines his child.

6-9 So it's paramount that you keep the commandments of God, your God, walk down the roads he shows you and reverently respect him. God is about to bring you into a good land, a land with brooks and rivers, springs and lakes, streams out of the hills and through the valleys. It's a land of wheat and barley, of vines and figs and pomegranates, of olives, oil, and honey. It's land where you'll never go hungry—always food on the table and a roof over your head. It's a land where you'll get iron out of rocks and mine copper from the hills." Deuteronomy 8:2-9 (MSG)
