Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving week! It was nice for us to spend the week at home with the family. Usually we're headed up to Iowa to see Courtney's parents or mine... but this time we just decided to hang out at home.
I'm very excited about the things that are coming up in Paola Young Life. This morning my wife and I have been dreaming about camp, excited about the possibility of over 35 of our high school friends joining us July 31-August7 2010. Take a minute with me and just imagine what God might want to do in the lives of 35 kids while immersing them in a week of incredible fun, acceptance and connection with an adult who loves them like Jesus. I'm so excited.
Right now we've got $3,000ish in the pool for camp funds. The cost is $625 per student to attend covering everything from transportation to the resort style camp that they'll experience for the week. But instead of our friends (aka... our high school kids) paying the full $625, let's raise $20,000 to cut the cost of camp for our friends by more than half!
How will we do it? We'll talk about that soon... but consider how God might use your ability to raise some funds for our friends going to camp this year. Last year God opened up the opportunity for me to connect with some of the guys going to camp and we bought sold boat parts on eBay & Craigslist! We raised over $500 for them to go to camp!
Camp registration does begin on the 14th of December! Every student who signs up this day with their $100 deposit gets $100 off camp PLUS find a second-timer (someone who went to camp last year), and you could get another $100 cash toward your camp trip!
Anyway, have a great and safe holiday season. Be careful climbing that ladder to put up the Christmas lights. It's a blessing to be working together with you.
